About Swahili Restaurant

The Swahili Restaurant proposal we did in Langata is a vibrant celebration of coastal heritage reimagined through a modern architectural lens. The design successfully integrates traditional Swahili motifs with contemporary luxury to create a unique, culturally immersive dining experience.

  • Geometry: The facade is defined by intricate geometric screens that pay homage to traditional coastal wood-carving patterns, providing both solar shading and a signature visual texture.
  • Contemporary Structure: Clean, white-rendered volumes are contrasted with dark metal frames and warm wood accents, creating a balanced and prestigious street presence.
  • Entrance Courtyard: A welcoming transition space featuring patterned stone flooring and architectural lighting that guides guests into the heart of the restaurant.
  • Main Dining Hall: A spacious, open-plan area featuring a mix of modern plush seating and traditional-inspired textures. The ceilings are accentuated by a custom lighting layout that includes both recessed linear LEDs and decorative woven pendants.
  • The Bar & Service Counter: A stunning focal point featuring deep vertical wood fluting andwhite marble countertops
  • Private Lounge: An intimate setting characterized by low-profile velvet seating, organic wooden tables, and high-relief textured wall elements, perfect for relaxed social gatherings.
  • Material: A combination of American walnut panels, porcelain tiles flooring, and brass-finished fixtures creates a warm, tactile environment.
  • Atmospheric Lighting: Strategic use of warm-toned lighting, including circular wall sconces and backlit architectural features, highlights the intricate patterns and textures, ensuring the space feels inviting and high-end during evening hours.
